Life of a Blogger: Best Childhood Memory

This week's top is: Best Childhood Memory.

This is an easy one! When I was younger my grandparents used to rent out this adorable little cottage in my town each Christmas and Summer. They lived a good few hours away from us so it was a big family thing when they came to visit! The house had a small park in the back garden (cool right?!) and as a child, it was probably the most awesome thing ever. I definitely didn't have my own mini park!

So, me and my siblings would all go over every day they were here and spend the entire day outdoors in the park, then when it got later my grandad would take us out this little gate behind the park where a massive lake sat. He'd let us have a go at fishing and even though I caught tiny little fish and weeds, it was the most fun! We'd have competitions to see who could get their line out the farthest and I won every time... maybe because I have (weirdly) long arms and was the oldest. But I won nonetheless.

Then we'd go to the chicken enclosure which was basically just a massive, dusty area where they roamed about freely. We'd gather all the eggs up and use them for dinner or breakfast the next morning! OH, they made us the best breakfasts! My grandad always made me toast or pancakes and shaped them into something. One time he made a house out of toast! He cut out all the windows and a chimney and a door and left the pieces on the side so I could eat those too. My grandma would cut hearts and stars out of pancakes, mmmm.

She was also the first person to get me into nail polish - I love painting my nails and trying new designs and that's all because she used to have her nails done a different way every time I saw her!

So... that's my best childhood memory (well, memories*).

What about you, what was your best childhood memory?:)

  1. That must've been really nice! My family had a flat up in the mountains when I was a kid, and I LOVED that little town so much. I had my group of friends (the kids of the other families living in that complex) and we would spend Summer and Christmas together.

  2. My grandparents lived out in the middle of nowhere in Northern California. It always seemed like a safe-yet-wild place to be. That house is actually my "happy place" during meditation because I loved it so much. Thanks for reminding me!
