Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000032_00034]

Sometimes the past comes back to haunt you—in the most heartbreakingly beautiful way. Gavin’s story. I fell in love hard and fast as lightning. As quick as she came into my world she was gone. Demi said she has secrets—that she’s done horrible things. Who hasn’t? I’m not going to let the past determine our future. Sometimes love lays forever at your feet and sometimes you need to fight for it. Demi is worth every damn battle we’ll have to go through. I’d burn down the world just to keep her safe. And, after what I’ve discovered, I just might have to. All I need with Demi is one more night to convince her we’re worth it. And that one night is going to cost me everything.

Exclusive Excerpt

Jackson clutched the stone wall of his chamber and gasped for air. What had just happened? He had returned to Cymmera, of that he was certain, but how? He hadn’t accessed the gateway. At least he didn’t remember opening it. A vision of her assailed him, beat at him, reminded him that he’d failed.

Oh, man. He was in trouble.

He pushed away from the wall. Images of his target taunted him. He shoved a chair aside and tore through the pictures scattered across the table in a desperate search for salvation. There. He pulled the shot from the mess but found only condemnation. The long blond hair flowing behind her in the snapshot had not been visible to him, but there was no mistaking the deep blue of her eyes. The pounding of a fist against the heavy wood door released him from whatever spell she’d cast.

“Jackson.” Another loud thud punctuated his name. He struggled to get his bearings, tried to slow the racing of his heart.

“Yeah, one minute.”

“Now. Your father wants to see you, immediately.”

Kai, his father’s most trusted warrior. He was in more trouble than he’d originally thought. Was it possible the king would sentence him to death for ignoring a direct order? Surely not without offering him a fair trial, or at least granting him the opportunity to explain. But what could he say? What explanation could there be for failing to deliver the girl? None.

“I won’t knock again.” The warrior would soon break down the door and drag him before the throne.

He crumpled the offending photo, the evidence of his disgrace, into a ball. Instead of tossing it in the trash as he’d intended, he shoved it into the small leather satchel he wore at his waist. With a deep breath, he released the latch and pulled open the door.

“Come.” Kai turned his back on him and strode purposefully down the corridor, their footfalls echoing through the silence of accusation. The thought of escape taunted him, but he would never make it out of the castle. He had only recently completed his warrior training under Kai’s watch and would be no match for the seasoned soldier. Besides, Kai was a stickler for the rules. If he tried to run, the warrior would surely take him down, protégé or not.

Never Lose Hope (Not a bookish post)

I've made one other post like this on my blog... This is not about books but I feel like I have a good following of people on here and if everyone shares this with their own followers maybe it'll help someone. Even if it's only a little.

So, I just made this new tumblr. 'Why?' You may ask. Well; this tumblr was created for the sole purpose of helping those who feel like they have no one else to turn to. I know this feeling all too well. I know how sucky it feels to have no one you can turn to and no one to give you advice. I don't want anyone to feel the way I felt. Ever. That's why I made this tumblr.

If you yourself feel like you need someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to leave an ask in my inbox. If you need to get something off your chest, you need advice on a topic you can’t talk about with a friend or a parent or you just need a good place to rant your heart out, I’m here to listen. I’ll always give advice and I will never  judge. I know I can’t click my fingers and make everything better for you but sometimes all it takes is someone willing to listen and to give advice. Whether it be about relationships, feelings, suicide, sex or just loneliness - I’d like to help :) I know what this feeling is like and I didn’t have anyone to talk to. I’d like to give others the option I never had.

I know this is a serious post, something you don't usually see on my blog, but I would honestly like to help in any way that I can. Everyone  needs someone.

If you could tweet, post, blog and whatever else about my new tumblr that would be wonderful and I'd be eternally grateful. Maybe that one tweet will be seen by someone who really needs to empty their heart out and maybe that one tweet can help make someone's life a little lighter. I am not  doing this for the thanks, I am doing this because I understand. I am doing this because if I can make just one person happier then I have helped.

Thank you if you read this, I love you all :)

EXCERPT
============

By the time I’d examined his tanned calves, the masculinity of his skin was lingering in the air between us. He smelt sensational, and I found myself uncontrollably breathing in as I rose.
Now curious to see more, I kept going. But as I began to move, an odd sensation of warmth radiating from him came over me; it was almost like an invisible hand caressing my skin. My heart fluttered at the idea of it, and suddenly blood was rushing to all the wrong places as I felt an unexpected thrill of anticipation.

After tracing his body all the way up to his chest, my wandering eyes didn’t seem to want to stop, and they were soon up to his neck and following the stubble along his jaw, right up to his light brown hair. And then he spoke. The sound of his voice jolted me from my daydream and pulled my gaze to his.

“Addison!” I gasped as our eyes collided. From the moment the name left my lips, my eyes widened ... stared ... and became lost in his. As a rush of airy weightlessness floated me from the floor, suddenly everything felt more enhanced, more real, like something inside me had suddenly woken up. It was an intoxicating feeling and the longer I stood entranced, the further his beautiful blue eyes reached into mine. Somehow they were knocking on the door to my heart, stirring something so powerful it made me want to cry and laugh at the same time and, for a brief second, there was something in his eyes that made me feel complete.

Suddenly his brows squeezed then softened. “Ah ... um ... sorry about the electric shock.” He smiled. “But who’s Addison?”

My throat tightened as warmth flushed my cheeks. Who the hell was Addison?

Embarrassment pulled my eyes from his. “Oh,” I said, choking on my words, “Um ... ah ... no ... I don’t know anyone called Addison ... I mean, um ... ”

“Oh!” He smiled cheekily as he leaned towards me and whispered. “You sounded so convinced I was him ... I thought for a second I could be. I mean, if you wanted me to be.”

My face shot back to his, words jamming in my throat as I stared. Who was this guy, this stranger? In just a few seconds he’d turned my soul inside out, and now he was charming me with his words as well.

As his lips rose into a smile, I couldn’t help but smile back. But panic quickly returned to my constricted throat as that name re-entered my head.

Suddenly aware of the warmth still creeping across my face, I managed to pull my eyes from his again and divert my gaze. Addison, Addison, who the hell was Addison? I couldn’t budge the name from my thoughts.

As I stood fidgeting, I could feel him staring, waiting for me to say something, anything. After taking a breath, I shifted my gaze and we locked eyes again as I spoke. “Um,” I said, swallowing hard, “I must be mistaken ... sorry.”

Excerpt

The phone rang again and I immediately thought of Janie. My heart popped up through my throat and caught on a breath. She was here though, right next to me. Safe. Her face still red and covered in dried, crusty tears.
I fumbled for the cordless.
“Liza, it’s me. I’m…” he hesitated, probably waiting to hear if I would say Who? or maybe, Which one? “I’m outside your house. Meet me downstairs?”
“Right now?” I shouted more than I’d meant to. My head pulsed in alarm, and a soft groan escaped Janie’s lips. I took a deep breath. “It’s like, eleven,” I whispered, more calm now.
“Yeah, I’m out in my car. I…I need to see you.”
Janie murmured and shifted as I got out of bed. I’d have to fight her for a spot when I got back. Or I could just suck it up, grab a quilt out of the closet, and sleep on the floor.
Outside, the air chilled right through my flimsy pajamas and pricked my bare skin. I tucked Dad’s oversized U of M sweatshirt I found on the back of the couch around my shivering body. My breath made these little pockets of fog in the air as I tiptoed across the frost-covered lawn to the street. The houses that mirrored mine on all sides stood quiet.
I slipped into the passenger seat and turned to him.
“Hey,” he said.
“Hey.”
“Did I wake you?” His hair was on the messy side as if he’d run his hands through it a thousand times.
“Yeah, a little. I mean, yeah, you woke me. Janie spent the night.”
He nodded and stared straight through me. I’d never seen that look before. It swept into my brain, muddling things. He leaned over, grabbed the back of my head, and brought my mouth to his.
It was soft and sweet. Emotions tangled in and out of our lips. Everything left unsaid and undone conveyed in the span of a few moments. It should be like taking a long walk through a beautiful garden, floated through my scattered thoughts. It wasn’t exactly like that, but it was nice. It was good. It was…pointless.
I stood on the curb and waved until the taillights turned at the end of the block. I made the decision then on that short trek back to my room. I knew what I wanted. Now I just had to figure out how to tell everyone.

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.
Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.
Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

Jennifer also writes New Adult and Adult romance under the pen name J. Lynn. The Gamble Brothers Series (Tempting the Best Man/Tempting the Player) and Wait for You. Under her pen name, she is published with Entangled Brazen and HarperCollins.

What do you guys think of the cover? I absolutely love it! We have everything we need in that cover; eye candy, a gorgeous girl in a stunning dress AND it's underwater. I adore  book covers underwater.

Make sure you pre-order the book on Amazon! I love Jennifer's books, especially the Lux series and I can't wait to read whatever else she comes out with. I'm not entirely sure if Wicked  will be published as a print book or just an ebook but I have been told that this is JLA's first self-published book so I wish her all the best:)

The TBR Tag

This is a tag created by The Book Belles and Dana Square. I was tagged by a couple of people on here and Instagram so I thought I'd do it now!

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I use Goodreads to add books I'd like to read to my to-read shelf but it's a bit of a mess. I don't own a lot of the books on there yet. As for the books I own on my TBR; they're all on their own shelf.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebooks?
Most of my TBR books are print. As most of you know by now, I'm not fond of ebooks.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
I don't have a system or any kind of organisation when it comes to what I read next. It's basically whatever I'm in the mood for.

A book that's been on your TBR list the longest:
Apparently it's To All The Boys I've Loved Before !

A book you recently added to your TBR:
Okay so I got a little excited about Christmas and all the xmas themed novellas that appear during the season... So I went to Goodreads and shelved a 'couple' of wintery books. This was the last one I TBR'd.

A book in your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover:
I literally have no idea what this book is about...

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading:

An unpublished book on your TBR that you're looking forward to:
The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent. The cover is so so pretty! The whole story line sounds really interesting too.

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read but you:
There are so many but this one was the first one I found on my Goodreads TBR!

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you:
The Infernal Devices series. Like all the time. I actually really  want to read them but other books keep taking priority.

A book on your TBR that you're dying to read:
I want to read this book SO BAD!!!

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
Just.. ya know.. 562.  It just keeps on growing and new books are always coming out and I have no self control.

I am tagging you. Yes YOU, the reader! Leave your post links in the comments section of this post so I can check them out:)
