5 Reasons Why You Should Read the Lux Series

So, instead of doing a review for Opal I thought I'd do this post instead. My blog is becoming Luxen central recently because of my Lux series power read. I will be ready for Opposition tomorrow!

So, here are 5 reasons why you should read the Lux books by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

1. Daemon. He's the male protagonist in this series, an alien with a bad attitude, even worse temper and a secret soft side that only shows itself when a certain Kitten is involved. For lack of a better description, think of him as a cocky, sexy as all hell, human-sized lightbulb with kickass powers.

2. The rest of the characters. Daemon got his own reason because... well if you've read the books you'll understand. Basically, all the characters in Jennifer's books are brilliant. It's been extremely fun for me to watch Katy, Daemon, Dee and even Andrew and Ash develop during this series. They each have their own personalities, their own mannerisms, their own souls and it's been lovely learning more and more about each of them. Even when I want to drop-kick Ash and rearrange her pretty face.

3. You will feel ALL the feels. And I do mean every single one. You'll find yourself feeling happy, sad, excited, heart-broken, helpless, ecstatic, smug and even a little surprised. Okay... a lot surprised because WOW. JLA knows how to pack an emotional punch right in the heart with those cliffhangers!

4. Katy and Daemon's relationship. It's not all sunshine, happiness and true love in the beginning, oh no, Daemon and Katy go back and forth with each other more than an old married couple. Mostly because Daemon can be a first class a-hole but also because Katy is one stubborn girl! (Good for her) Even as the story progresses, they fight and argue but we get to experience the entire thing. From the first day they meet to the day they realise their feelings for each other and so on. Their relationship is very realistic, not the instalove we're so used to reading about nowadays and whilst that's all cute and swoon worthy, the chase and the back and forth is fun too! I find it much more entertaining and let's just say there's never a dull moment when Katy and Daemon are together.

5. JLA's writing will create so much atmosphere as you read. It's hard not to get sucked into the Luxen world and live in the story with the characters as they handle every situation and problem that's thrown their way. All authors, to some extent, can create scenes and characters but as I've mentioned plenty of times before; I usually don't have a clear picture of characters. With Jennifer's characters I can see them so clearly that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to handle a change in face if we ever got an Obsidian movie. That's how good her writing is!!

So, what're you waiting for? Opposition is out tomorrow, I'm half way through Origin and I'm about to sob b/c Katy and Daemon.

If you've already read this series, what are your thoughts? Are you excited for Opposition or dreading the end?

  1. I've never read anything from this author, though I've heard good things about this series. I got Obsidian at a great price a while back, and it's been sitting in my TBR pile ever since. I think I might read that next, once I get through my current book.
