Top Ten Tuesday! Bookish Problems

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week they post a new topic that the participants come up with a top ten list for. Feel free to comment your own list at the bottom of this post!

So lovelies, I officially have a new co-blogger. One that I am extremely thrilled about because she's proving to be wonderful both to talk to and as a book blogger. I'm going to start incorporating her in to CUWB (review requests, introductions etcetc) in the next day or so. I hope you'll all give her a warm welcome :)

1. Staying up all night to finish a book resulting in grumpy Amber for the majority of the next day.

2. Being able to forgive fictional characters far easier than real live people.

Oh you killed someone but it was a total accident? That's fine. Take your shirt off and it'll all be fine.

3. Having multiple book boyfriends but zero real boyfriends.

Because where am I gonna find an alien boy who lights up like a bulb has been shoved up his ass?

4. Resisting the urge to beat those who think they're better/smarter than me because they read classics whereas I enjoy YA.

5. Book hangovers so bad that I retreat to a corner of my room for a week and a half.

What do you mean I have to wait until Summer 2015 for the next book?!?!

6. Preferring the company of books to actual people.

Because book characters wont tell me how pale I look from lack of going outside.

7. Seeing my book shelves overflowing with unread books as I click "Checkout" on even more books.

I go to regular Book Buying Addiction (BBA) meetings. Don't worry about me.

8. Realising that the next book in a series I just caught up on doesn't even have a release date yet and thinking what a terrible mistake I've made.

9. The "I still want to love that author even though they killed off my favourite character." complex.

I'm looking at you J.K Rowling.

10. Wanting to live in fictional worlds with fictional characters but not being able to because they're... fictional, believe it or not.

Take me to Watson Island and leave me there with Eight.

Here are my bookish problems (in no particular order):

1. Reading the synopsis of the book, and loving the concept, and finding out a good chunk of people rated it 1-2 stars.

This is more of a thing that happened recently for me. I've been trading books with a lot of people recently and I always like to look at the book on Goodreads- especially with a book I'm not familiar with and I just think... hey, this is interesting. But then I see the ratings below and a lot of people don't really like it. I shouldn't always judge by the ratings but... man. I don't want to waste time on a book that's going to be a flop. I'm so conflicted. :/

2. Finding a book with a lovely cover... but the actual story is really horrible.

Rarely does a nice cover and a wonderful book mix together. Welll... unless if you are Gates of Thread and Stone and The Infinite by Lori M. Lee. You are the rare exception... and I'm happy for that. :D

3.  Having so many books to read/ want to read.

Self-explanatory. D: I'm sure a lot of people can understand me on this...

4. Unable to visit favorite authors due to money/ different location/ etc.

I would love to meet Jodi Meadows, Sara Raasch, Lauren DeStefano... just to name a couple. Sadly, the place where I live isn't really favorable for author visits. NOOOOOOO!! Maybe one day, when I learn how to drive, I'll adventure myself to bookish signings. It's a must.

5. Finding a book I really love but noticing that a lot of people don't like it as much as I do OR finding a book I didn't care about but a lot of people seem to love it.

Alright, I know this is silly, but sometimes... being alone on liking/ disliking something can sort of be a bummer. D:

6. Deciding between reading my current read and watching TV shows (ex: The 100 or Alias- thanks Jodi, pfffft- or Buffy).

I WANT TO READ AND WATCH ALL THE THINGS. There are too many things I want to see but there's so little time. This is a bookish problem... right???? D:

7. Not finding many book lovers/ book bloggers around where I live.

I guess it doesn't help that, in real life, I'm really nervous about meeting people. At the same time, though, I wouldn't mind talking to other bloggers close by and maybe have a book day or something. That'll be cool. c:

8. Book swag (book marks, posters, post cards, etc).

I want all the book swag, please! :D

9. Finding the best book reading position without feeling uncomfortable.

... is this even possible? Thanks to my wrists, I can't hold up books for too long before I get in immense pain. x___x I've read somewhere online that Kindles are easier to relax with and aren't that painful. I'm not the only one who has this problem though, I know. It doesn't help that, if I'm too warm, my body thinks it's time for bed and then I fall asleep. x___x

10. Examining book covers and wondering how they were created in Photoshop.

One of my goals is to become a book illustrator one day. It would be wonderful if I could create a lovely cover and have people swoon over it. ;v; I like looking at covers that are really lovely and think how they did it. It's a good way to learn and find different creative ways to create stuff. So I guess, in a way, it's not much of a bookish problem... but sometimes I spend so much time thinking about it that I lose time reading for the day. Ooops. xD

What about you? Do you have any of the same bookish problems? Comment below.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful day! :)

  1. Amber's #1 is definitely on my list too. I can't help it if a book is so good, I rather lose sleep than stop reading.

    1. There must be a simple way to interact with other book bloggers near you save for at book signings! I met one person who liked a book I love, but it only came up because I was wearing a pin with the title's name at work. I got lucky. D: I don't think I'm going to meet her again and there's not many book signings here... darn!

Thanks for sharing your list! :D
